Information for Collectors

MINUTES Exchange is an informal artist ran postal project with the aim of raising money for various charities by hosting art auctions on Instagram!

How do I bid?
Bidding starts at 10am on our Instagram page with an ‘Auction Post’. To bid, comment on the post with the amount you wish to bid in £GBP. We recommend starting early! This must be at least £5 higher than the previous offer. DO NOT post this as a reply, but as a new comment.

When does the bidding end?
At 8pm if the highest bid has stood for over 5 minutes the bidding is over. However, if the highest bid is less than 10 minutes old, you can still submit a higher offer to win the artwork. If this happens everyone has another 10 minutes to place a higher offer. This continues until the highest bid has stood for over 10 minutes. This system is in place to stop auction sniping by placing winning offers in the final seconds of the auction. Instagram can sometimes be slow to update, so if you want to make sure you win the bidding make sure to start bidding early!

What if I don't use instagram?
We recommend creating an account to be sure you will be able to bid successfully.

How does postage work?
If you win an auction, please send us an email with your postal address. We take payment by bank transfer. Please note that postage and packing is not included in your bid and costs £5. All artwork will be sent together at the end of the current 'box' so please allow some time for your artwork to arrive if it is early in the event.

Postage outside of the UK will cost more. We can arrange this with you.

Please note that this project is ran by a small number of working artists in our free time for a charitable cause. So we may sometimes take time to reply, but we will always work to make sure buyers, artists and our audience are always happy.

Information for Artists

How Does it work?
First, we send a box full of paper to an artist and they select a charity to raise money for though MINUTES exchange. After making an artwork to contribute to the project, they will send the box onto the next artist they nominate to do the same. If the box is full (with 6 finished artworks), the box is sent back to us, and the MINUTES team will host an auction on our Instagram page featuring all of the contributions to raise money for charity!

I've recived the box, what now?
Make sure you read and understand all of the "Information for Artists" on this page. By submitting work to the box you are agreeing to these terms and conditions including the sale of the artwork and the use of the artwork for promotional purposes. If we haven't contacted you already, send an email to minutesonpainting@gmail.com letting us know you have received it. When you are finished, pass the box onto another artist. If there are already six artworks in the box, send it back to us.

Where does the money go?
40% of the money will be donated to the chosen charity. 40% will be given to the artists involved. This is split evenly between all artists. We understand that it’s quite unconventional to split the money equally like this, rather than proportionally, but we want to emphasise that this project is about a team effort of support and exchange. We aim to always keep the project fun and casual for everyone involved so we think focusing less on individual sales is a nice idea to help support everyone. If the artist does not wish to accept this money we donate it to the chosen charity on their behalf. Finally, 20% of sales will be invested back into Minutes Exchange to fund new Minutes Exchange Projects.

Can you cover postage costs?
The box can be posted in the mail as a 'Small Parcel' with the correct amount of stamps, or at the post office for £3.70. Once the auction is complete we will reimburse you for postage if you request it.

Should I let you know when I pass the Box on?
Yes please! Email minutesonpainting@gmail.com with the next artists name and email address.

Can I send the box outside of the UK?
Due to our limited funds we can currently not support this, sorry!

Is there a time limit or deadline?

Nope. We are pretty laidback about this, just keep us updated so we know the box is not lost or missing. Email us at minutesonpainting@gmail.com

Can I apply to start a new box and choose a charity I would like to support? _
Yes! Send us an email anytime.

If you have any problems, please email minutesonpainting@gmail.com.
